Spring is here, and that usually means housing activity. However, housing activity is not just a flurry of open house tours and weekend sidewalk shopping anymore, but rather an increasingly all-digital buying and closing process. In a recent Zillow survey, nearly 60% of millennials reported they would be somewhat comfortable making an offer on a home they only toured virtually, and 39% said they would be comfortable actually buying a home online. Additionally, in a housing market that sees homes go under contract in an average of 18 days, the need for competitive digital tools doesn’t stop with homebuyers.

Title industry leaders who believe pandemic changes are here to stay echoed the embrace of digital housing market tools. In examining the post-pandemic workplace and even employer strategies, Tom Griffiths, CEO and co-founder of Hone, said that the effects of COVID-19 on the industry have “accelerated five years [into] one.” Ohio Real Title President Ryan Marrie added that since so many people have lost jobs in a wide variety of industries, now could be a particularly good time to look beyond the typical industry pool of those who already have title and escrow experience for untapped talent from other industries. From more personalized services and cloud-based technology to remote offerings, recruiting and top talent retention efforts, the title industry has shown resiliency, adaptability and an ability to perform under pressure during these trying times.
